This year our programme packs quite a choral punch.
We kick off events on October 17th when we join with the AOIC to sing the Fauré Requiem at St. Ann’s Church on Dublin’s Dawson Street. We’re also going to sing the Fauré at a mystery location in November *we’ll keep you posted*!!
Then we’re premiering Cecilia McDowall’s A Winter’s Night at the National Concert Hall on December 7th. Stellar soprano Claudia Boyle will be joining us too on the night.
Come March, there’s a Messiah to be sung in Christchurch and then next Spring we sing another Irish premiere: Roxanna Panufnik’s wonderful Westminster Mass and the stunning Mozart Requiem.
We cannot wait to sing these wonderful choral works … details on how to get tickets will follow soon!
We have had a lovely *Irish* summer break and are looking forward to getting back to rehearsals next Thursday, September 3rd. In three short weeks we take to the stage of the NCH to sing the magnificent Bach B Minor mass. Rehearsals are going well, we’re putting in the hours and this glorious work is fast becoming beloved among us choristers. Tickets are on sale from the NCH box office and are selling well, so grab yourself a ticket to what is guaranteed to be a wonderful event on June 3rd.
We are just fresh from a very busy workshop day. Last Saturday we spent the day with the fabulously inspiring Mark Hindley and what a day it was.
Intensive sessions on the Bach B Minor with a sprinkling of a new setting of ‘There is no rose’. It was a wonderful day with over 80 choristers working hard and having fun. We also had the annual Easter raffle with prizes galore. So by the end of the day our heads were full of semi-quavers and our bellies full of chocolates!
What a wonderful day we had on March 21st. The sun shone all day, Ireland won the Six Nations and the trumpet sounded resplendent in the glorious environs of Christchurch when we sang Messiah to a sell-out audience. Our soloists were superb, the Culwick ensemble played a blinder and the choir sang their hearts out; all under the ever brilliant guidance of Bernie.
Next up is Bach B Minor Mass at the Concert Hall on June 3rd. Details soon!
We’re nearly set, those semi-quavers are polished and the choruses refined! Come along to our Messiah concert in Christchurch Cathedral on March 21st.
Tickets available on the door or from any choir member.
